Saturday, October 9th is World Post Day!
The purpose of World Post Day is to create awareness of the role of the postal sector in people’s and businesses’ everyday lives and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries. All over the world we rely on postal services for personal correspondence, but also for business deliveries and transactions, daily.
messaggio studios' design for the 2010 World Post Day uses the symbolism of stamps from different cultures and countries. The stamp is a global, uniform tool yet each stamp is individual and representative of its country. The design idea unites the stamps to represent interaction and collaboration between different postal systems the world over. The posters will be appearing in post offices around the world and the web banner can be seen on the UPU website.
The UPU was founded in Switzerland in 1874 and became a specialized agency of the United Nations in 1948. It plays a hugely important role in allowing cooperation between postal sectors worldwide… clearly, communication between these entities is fundamental in ensuring a universal network of services. The UPU is also involved in digital communication systems. World Post Day represents an important part of the UPU's work to promote the postal sector, thus working towards its mandate and missions to promote social and economic development.
This is not the first time messaggio studios has worked with the UPU. messaggio studios' design work for World Aids Day was used in a UNAIDS campaign, distributed throughout post offices worldwide in collaboration with UPU.
mondofragilis group companies recognize the importance of postal services, in particular post offices themselves, as an invaluable global network for spreading messages of change to all corners of the world.
